It's been said that when women support other women, incredible things happen and that's precisely the mission behind the Women's Barbell Classic.

Traditionally speaking, the weight room has been dominated by men but with more and more women falling in love with lifting, the tide is definitely shifting. Meet co-founders, Abbie Mork and Annie Brees are among the women in love with strength training. After spending hundreds of hours training women in the gym and watching the transformative effects of strength training first hand, Abbie and Annie wanted to extend an invite to all female lifters, regardless of their discipline (powerlifting, CrossFit, StrongMan, or otherwise) to join forces, test their strength, and connect with other powerful women. This meet is truly a celebration of the strong women in our community.

The Women's Barbell Classic is a non-sanctioned (read: no singlet required), push/pull meet open to beginner and seasoned lifters alike. All of the proceeds from this meet, including a silent auction following the meet will directly benefit a local cause that we choose each year.

The first Women's Barbell Classic raised nearly $10k for women in the community and we can't wait to top that in 2019. The primary beneficiary of the 2019 event is the Young Women’s Resource Center. The YWRC’s mission is to embrace and inspire girls and young women to become strong, self-confident, and successful. Their vision is for all girls and young women in their community to realize their full potential.

Just like the incredible inagural event last year the 2019 meet is promised to be as much a party and celebration as it is a showcase of female strength. Food, drinks, silent auction, DJ, and so many friends in one place, we can’t wait to experience it with everyone!
